Established in 1891, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s Big Five symphony orchestras, alongside other orchestras like the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. With over 62 Grammy awards under its belt, the CSO has also been voted the best orchestra in the USA as well as the fifth best globally in 2008. They play several concerts at the Symphony Centre throughout November 2018. One that may be of great interest is their shows at the end of the month where they recreate the music from the legendary Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

The legendary Frankie Valli will take the stage at Auditorium Theatre on 3 November. Valli is, of course, the frontman for the iconic Four Seasons who inspired the hit Tony Award-winning musical Jersey Boys. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Valli’s extensive discography ensures nothing less than a great experience for any fans eager to see him in concert in Chicago.

Fans of hip-hop’s golden era will be thrilled to see the legendary line-up of The Hip-hop House Party Tour scheduled to tear it up at Chicago Theatre on 2 November. With iconic groups such as Naughty by Nature and Kid’n’Play, old-school legend Kool Moe Dee, influential duo Black Sheep (of “The Choice is Yours” fame), the raucous 2 Live Crew, this is a night jam-packed with classic hip-hop records and is sure to be unmissable.

Rising stars of entertainment in Chicago

Rising R&B star and Warner Bros recording artist Gallant steps onto the Concord Music Hall stage on 3 November. The Grammy-nominated DC native has had entertainment heavyweights like Jimmy Fallon and Zane Lowe singing his praises and his debut album “Ology” was critically acclaimed and christened by Entertainment Weekly as one of the best albums of 2016. He debuted a new single, “Doesn’t matter” in April 2018 and a new album is sure to be on the horizon.

Further, into the jam-packed calendar month, Scottish trio Young Fathers touch down in Chicago’s Bottom Lounge on 19 November. Releasing their new album “Cocoa Sugar” in March 2018, this Mercury Award-winning trio’s songs were featured extensively on the Trainspotting sequel, T2 Trainspotting, with auteur director Danny Boyle describing their song “God only knows” as the heartbeat of the film.
