Summer and music in the city of Chicago, Illinois are like two peas in a pot, they go well with one another. If you love your country music and want to see some of the best singers to ever do it, nothing beats hitting the city and going to your favorite concert. Chicago country concerts are filled with live performance and this year has a very good line up of acts. There are many concerts that will take place from May all the way to September in 2018 and below are some of the concerts worth putting in your diary and the artists coming to Chicago, IL area.

From Flint, Texas, William Clark Green is a very popular country single with one live album and four studio albums. He will be Joe’s on Weed Street on the 11th of May.

Bluegrass Brunch

Bluegrass is a form of music that has roots in English, Irish and Scottish. Some of its influences can be heard in African American music. Beat Kitchen is where this brunch can be found and there will be a series of shows in the first weekend of June.

Shania Twain

It does not get any bigger than Shania Twain. She’s Canadian singer that today has sold well over 100 million albums. She is the darling of country music and in many people’s eye, an icon. She will be at the United Center on May 19th

Al Stewart

Another big name in the genre is Alastair Ian Steward who has been famous since the 1960’s with the British Folk Revival. Despite his very busy schedule, he will be at the City Winery on June 4th and 5th to entertain his fans.

The Mavericks

They are an electric American band known to combine country music, Tex-Mex, rock and Latin influences. They have been around since 1989 and will be at the Thalia Hall on June 5th.

Country Lake Shakes

This wonderful music festival makes a return for the fourth year in a roll between June 22nd to 24th at the Huntington Bank Pavillion. The list of people who will be performing includes Jackie Lee, Chris Lane, Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice, Russell Dickerson, Florida Georgia Line, Julian Jacqueline, Trace Lawrence, Cole Swindell, Black Shelton, Dylan Scott, Runaway June, RaeLynn and Locash.

Punch Brothers

This is an American band that consists of Paul Kowert who plays the bass, Chris Eldridge who plays the guitar, Chris Thile who plays the Mandolin, Noam Pikelny who plays the banjo and lastly Gabe Witcher who plays the violin/fiddle. Many people describe their style as bluegrass Spontaneity and instrumentation in many corners of American country and the modern classical chamber music.

Dar Williams

Performing live in mid-September is songwriter and singer Dar Williams who specializes in Pop Folk. Described as “one of America’s very best singer-songwriters” by Hendrik Hertzberg of the The New Yorker, Dar Williams is not short on talent at all and has an impressive catalog of music which she will be performing at the City Winery.

Willy Porter

With many upcoming shows especially in September and even beyond to 2019, one of the best country singers around is Willy Porter. He specializes in contemporary rock which has a bit of a western feel to it and after Chicago, he will be coming to a city near you.
