Chicago is widely accepted as the birthplace of house music. So, it’s natural that it should be still treated as a Mecca of sorts for DJs, bands, and fans of all ages of today’s dance music scene in all its forms. As expected, Chicago EDM concerts are still a weekly feature in the city’s calendar in 2018.

World-changing DJs in Chicago

Chicago local MattBoyWhite hosts his residency at Studio Paris on Saturday 12 May, one of the most sought-after DJs. MBW has spun for some of the biggest artists on the planet like Chance the Rapper, A$AP Ferg, Fall Out Boy and Big Sean, while brands like Nike, Red Bull USA, Bacardi, Topshop and more have sought him out for their VIP events and musical curation. MBW is known as a master of creating unique experiences with his extensive multi-genre musical knowledge, energetic visuals, and positive vibes.

16 May sees Barcelona frontman Brian Fennell perform at the Beat Kitchen under his solo pseudonym SYML. With his solo work described as more sensory and textural than Barcelona’s output, his shows are sure to be memorable affairs full of haunting vocals and intimate songs.

Veteran Bostonian and Californian transplant Craig Smoove brings his versatile, multi-genre style to Studio Paris on 16 May, with his set capable of seamlessly blending EDM, trap, hip-hop, top 40 to satisfy the most demanding crowd. Craig has played up and down the country alongside a who’s who of elite artists in the EDM and hip-hop scenes like Arman Van Buuren, Diddy, Ice Cube, Far East Movement, Kygo, Jeremih and more.

Coco & Breezy are known of course for their globally-renowned eyewear company, worn by icons such as the late Prince, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and tennis superstar Serena Williams, and have signed partnerships with brands like Adidas, Dior, American Express, Moet, and Armani. However, what may not be known to the casual observer is that the identical twins are also talented DJs, having DJed runway shows at New York Fashion Week, underground warehouse parties, and clubs throughout the country. Having released their debut EDM single “Differences” in February 2018, they will be gracing the stage at Studio Paris on Friday, May 18.

From Lebanon by way of Detroit, DJ Captn20 is a 15-year vet who has captivated crowds from Atlantic City to Mexico, capable of switching from deep house to hip-hop and all points in between. He has performed alongside electronic chart-toppers like Chainsmokers, Tiesto, Feddie Le Grand as well as performing for celebs such as X-Men’s Hugh Jackman, Diddy, Jennifer Lopez and more. He plays Studio Paris on 26 May.

Electronic vibes in Chicago

Electronic bands are also well represented for live EDM concerts in Chicago. North Carolina’s Grammy-nominated duo Sylvan Esso bring their brand of indie electronic pop rock to the Riviera Theatre on 23 July, while German dubstep king Bukez Finezt takes the stage at Subterranean on 3 August, supported by the UK beats purveyor Thelem and Prophet.

Legendary Raves at House of Blues Chicago

For the 20th year running, all 4 stories at House of Blues Chicago will be taken over by CircuitMom/International Mr. Leather for a truly mind-blowing experience on 27 and 28 May. The show features incredible set designs and laser-light shows, go-go dancers and phenomenal DJs like the Grammy-nominated Tony Moran and the legendary Morabito who will be spinning together as a team for the first time ever as “The Victory Party” on 27th, while on the 28th Tom Stephan and Karsten Sollors will hold it down with dark beats and electronic rhythms.
