The iconic House of Blues is often a major port of call for Chicago rock concerts that feature legends in the music business and 12 May will be no different when Tom Jones, yes…THAT Tom Jones…brings his star power to Chicago. The iconic Welsh singer, famous for his smash hit “It’s not unusual” as well as countless other hits, is nowadays one of the coaches on the UK version of The Voice, a title that could refer to Jones himself. With such a world-famous voice, buying tickets to this show should be the biggest no-brainer of the calendar for any fan. He will be supported by Into the Ark, an acoustic soul duo from Jones’ native Wales and Voice UK 2017 finalists, who will be releasing their EP “Valencia” in mid-2018.

United by Rock and Roll

Several monumental rock concerts in Chicago are set to take place at the United Centre, which will play host to classic rock duo Daryl Hall & John Oates, declared by Rolling Stone as “best-selling musical duo of all-time with a staggering number of monster hits” and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. This is their Chicago stop on their North American Summer tour, with support from Train. Both bands have collaborated on a joint single, entitled “Philly Forget Me Not” in anticipation of the tour.

Irish megastars U2 embark on their “eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE” Tour, also at the United Centre on 22 May. With material drawn from their last two albums “Songs of Innocence” and “Songs of Experience”, as well as their extensive back catalog, early reviews of the tour have described the tour as uplifting, challenging and dedicated to the idea of America as much as the country itself, best summed up by Bono’s lyric, “It’s not a place, this country is, to me, a sound.” Chicago will have a monster rock concert to remember.

July sees one of the most innovative rock bands coming to Chicago when British indie rock virtuosos Radiohead play a 2-day stint at the United Centre. From “The Bends” to “OK Computer”, to “Hail to the Thief”; for an entire generation of music fans, there are several Radiohead albums that literally changed the way they heard and felt about rock music.

The Rockstars of Pop Music

In celebration of their latest album, “Spirit”, the iconic Depeche Mode embark on their “Global Spirit” tour, stopping at the United Centre on 1 June. Having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, Depeche Mode has been one of the groups that played a part in making electronic music mainstream in the 1980s and indeed are described by such superlatives as “the most popular electronic band the world has ever known” by Q Magazine. Their influence can be felt on countless modern artists.

On the same day, Soldier Field will play host to thousands of adoring young fans as the global pop juggernaut that is Taylor Swift arrives in Chicago. From her humble country music roots, Swift has gone on to dominate the entire planet with her brand of feel-good, empowering pop records.

Grammy-nominated LA trio HAIM takes the stage at the Aragorn Ballroom, also on 12 May, on the Chicago stop of their Sister Sister Sister tour. Signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, this trio of sisters have performed at prestigious festivals and venues such as the iconic Glastonbury Festival in the UK and worked with global superstars like Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift as well as featured on several movie soundtracks. Their live shows are famously quirky and high-energy.
